If your electronics are subjected to strong chemicals, extreme temperatures, strong vibration, mechanical shock or liquid immersion, we would recommend our potting service to protect your components. This is where the PCB is fully encapsulated by a resin - usually polyurethane, epoxy or silicone.

Our experienced team has extensive knowledge in materials, production methods and operating conditions to recommend the correct resin for your PCB, and apply it effectively, without compromising component design.

Our process has on-going inspections to ensure a smooth, clear finish throughout, with no imperfections.

What is potting and encapsulation?

Potting and encapsulation is where electronic components are completely covered in a thick resin coating. The coating is usually polyurethane, epoxy or silicone which protects the components against water ingress, vibrations, physical shock or chemical exposure.

The materials used are generally two-part systems, which is when a resin (part a) is mixed with a hardener (part b), causing a chemical reaction and curing the material.

These materials can be provided in different colours, including black, which can be particularly useful in prototyping and military applications to disguise componentry and protect against reverse engineering.

PCBs Inspection

PCBs Inspection

We receive your PCBs with the appropriate housing connected. We inspect them to ensure housings are positioned correctly and the PCBs are clean and ready for the resin.

Mixing & Application

Mixing & Application

We thoroughly mix the resin and catalyst to precise ratios and then accurately dispense it to our customer’s specification. Our application methods ensure there are no air pockets, and all gaps are filled.

Bubble removal

Bubble removal

Removal of bubbles from the resin is essential. We have a number of processes for this including using vacuum, vibration plates, or heat.
